What Happened To Our Mama Peace?

Madam First lady, Dame Patience Jonathan seems to have disappeared without a trace since the conclusion of the March 28 presidential elections and the question on the minds of many Nigerians has been "where is Mama Peace?"

Mama Peace as she likes to be called has kept Nigerians entertained over the years with her actions and infamous speeches, although at the high cost of international embarrassment to the nation. Many Nigerians have several video clips of the Dame's interesting speeches on their mobile devices, one of the most popular would probably be about her reaction to the kidnapped Chibok girls.

It's been more than a year since Mama Peace 'shed tears' on national TV, but her repeated cries of 'Diaris God o!' is still one of Nigerians favorite response to almost any situation. Dame Jonathan has been known as a very bold and garrulous woman who loves attention and thrives on being in the public eye.

This made it all the more surprising when she suddenly went absolutely quiet and totally withdrew from the public eye when her husband failed to get re elected. There have been so many speculations since her disappearance: perhaps the defeat was too much to handle. But we are kind of disappointed, from a woman like Patience, we expected more.

She failed to attend the Easter services with the president that was held inside the Aso Rock chapel, her absence screamed volumes. Then we expected to see her at the burial of president Jonathan's top aide, Oronto Douglas at Yenagoa last Saturday, but alas, there was still no mama Peace.

In fact, coming to think about it, she did not accompany her husband to vote in the gubernatorial elections of April 5, although there were claims that she had gone to Rivers state then. Finally, the presidency through the Dame's media assistant, Mr Ayo Adewuyi have told us where Madam Patience supposedly is.

Adewuyi’s statement read, “First Lady, Dame Patience Faka Jonathan is in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, joining other African First Ladies for the celebration of the 30th Anniversary of Congo Assistance Foundation, an NGO of Congolese First Lady, Madam Antoinette Sassou-Nguesso."

First and foremost, has she been in Congo the whole time? If not, what happened before the Congo trip? But no problem Mr Adewuyi,  as to your explanation of her current whereabouts,  we will appreciate some pictorial evidence as proof, until then, we will still wonder -  "what happened to our mama Peace?".
