3 Effective DIY Tricks To Get Rid Of Dark Elbows And Knees

Dark and wrinkled elbows and knees are definitely not pretty, particularly for people who are light skinned. Thanks to those teachers that made us kneel down as punishment and all those years of putting our bare elbows on wooden table tops! However, the good news is that you don't have to live with it all your life. Better still, you don't need to break a bank to get rid of them. You can make DIY remedies from cheap ingredients you probably already have at home.

1. Olive oil and sugar scrub

What to do: Mix one tablespoon of olive oil with one tablespoon sugar thoroughly. Massage your elbows and knees with this mixture. Do this for 5 minutes, and then wash your skin with warm water and a mild soap. Apply some moisturizing cream.

This scrub is also effective for softening your hands by acting as an exfoliant.

2. Shea butter or coconut oil

Both of these oils are extremely efficient when it comes to natural skincare; they soften and hydrate your skin at the same time.

What to do:
Massage your skin with shea butter or coconut oil every night before going to bed. Leave it in overnight. Repeat the process every night until your skin softens.

3. Turmeric milk

A skin-friendly spice, turmeric has proved beneficial for both skin protection and hydration.

What to do:
Mix one tablespoon of turmeric powder and some milk to get a thick paste. Rub the paste well into your elbows and knees leaving it act it for 5 minutes. Wash your elbows with soap and water. Apply some moisturizing cream.
