How To Naturally Whiten Your Teeth

Who doesn't want a mouth full of teeth that are whiter than pearls and smiles that dazzle? In fact, if you are like me, you would want teeth so white that the toothpaste companies will be running after you to use you in their adverts! Teeth naturally get yellow with age, and so the need to whiten them every now and then arises. When we say white teeth, most people think charcoal. But hey, there are other natural ways to whiten your teeth without first blackening them.

1. Baking soda and lemon

Baking soda and lemon work like bleach, they are perfect teeth whiteners, but very powerful. You don't want to use this solution to brush too often at the risk of wearing out your enamels, bu about once a week is fine. Both baking soda and lemon juice are effective on their own, but the combination is a knockout.

How to Use: In a small bowl, mix a little bit of baking soda with the juice of a freshly squeezed lemon. The mixture should bubble slightly. Using a cotton swab, wipe saliva and excess plaque from your teeth before brushing on the mixture. Leave the mixture on your teeth for a minute before gently brushing it off with a toothbrush.Don’t leave the mixture on your teeth for any longer than a minute!

2. Hydrogen Peroxide

This is my personal favorite, I use peroxide for everything from treating scrapes and bites to treating cold blisters and as mouthwash. Make sure you use food grade hydrogen peroxide for teeth whitening though. Simply swish some food-grade hydrogen peroxide (FGHP) around in your mouth for a few seconds, than spit it out. Another option would be to mix a 50/50 solution using FGHP and water, and swish it around for 60 seconds.

3. Banana Peel

Yes o! simply banana peel. Just use the inside of a banana peel to rub your teeth for about 2 minutes. You can do this a often as you like and voila - a smile to die for is yours!

As a tip, try to use a straw as much as possible when drinking things like coffee, tea and fizzy drinks. Those are some of the major culprits that discolor the teeth. Apart from these, be sure to visit a dentist for a scaling and polishing exercise regularly to remove all the plague. Your teeth will thank you for it!
