If you had lost faith in the nursing profession (probably thanks to some really snotty and rude nurses you might have come across), Seesee Rigney makes you realize that there are still selfless and caring nurses out there. This wonderful granny made the news when she turned 90 last week and her colleagues gave her a heartwarming surprise. Seesee has been working for 70 years and she still works two days in a week!
The oldest practicing nurse in the United States was left in tears after a heartwarming surprise party her co-workers threw as they rang in her 90th birthday.
Florence 'SeeSee' Rigney was born in 1925 and has been working for nearly seven decades at Tacoma General Hospital in Washington. She celebrated her birthday on May 8.
The operating room nurse has been working at the hospital since 1946, and considered retiring at the age of 67, but still works two days a week setting up rooms.
As her colleagues gathered on Friday, Rigney was caught on camera during the emotional birthday surprise where she even received a card from state Governor Jay Inslee honoring her achievements.
MultiCare Health System's president and CEO, Bill Robertson, said in a statement last week that he could not have thought of a better time to celebrate her birthday than during National Nurses Week, which runs from May 6 to May 12.
'SeeSee has been a part of our MultiCare family since 1946, when she first put on the starched white uniform of a student nurse in the Tacoma General School of Nursing — and then stayed on after graduation to work with us,' he said.

'Even though her career has taken her across the country, and though she took time off to raise a family, she has been a part of our team on and off for nearly 70 years — about half of the years since Tacoma General was founded in 1882!'
'Nowadays she has cut back to just a couple of days a week, but she still pursues her lifelong profession with the same energy, focus and careful execution of her duties that has marked her career across seven decades! And she still inspires those around her,'

It's obvious that Seesee truly truly love her job and loves helping people. We wish Seesee many more happy and active years!
