Travel Desk - Tips On Getting The Best Seat On Any Flight!!!

If you love travelling like myself, but hate the idea of flying due to it's many problems such as airport delays, cramped seats, smelly toilets, rude cabin crew, noisy kids etc, then you need this nice piece of info!

Below are some tips on how to get the best seat on any flight!!

1 - Book your flight far in advance - you do not only get good deals and discounts, you also can choose preferred seating!

2 - Reserve directly with the airline - this strategy sometimes gets you best price guarantee while your flight confirmation comes through immediately, whereas, booking with third party such as expedia or even travel agents leaves you at their mercy for flight confirmation.

3 - Look up the flight seat map on seatguru - seatguru.com by tripadvisor arguaby has the most comprehensive seating charts for every single flight!. You will also get tips about proximity to toilets, emergency exits, bassinets, windows and even the amount of legroom provided by each seat.

4 - Select you seat strategically - if you are flying with your better half on a three row seating chart, book the window and aisle seats! The middle seats are the last and most unlikely seats to go. So, chances are you will have the entire row to yourselves in the case of a not-fully-booked flight. In any case, you could swap with whoever books it if it gets booked. That person would welcome it with open arms. No one likes middle seats.
5 - Pay for more legroom - some airlines offer additional legroom at a premium. You can decide if it pays to buy one for that extra comfort.
6 - Ask to be booked at an exit row or bulkhead row - exit rows offer the best legroom. Bulkhead rows offer slightly less comfort but much better legroom than standard seats. They are the first rows behid the cabin wall. This typically applies to Economy class travel. A common problem is the fact that they are often reserved to accommodate families with kids and babies who need bassinets. So, if you can't stand kiddy noise, this isn't for you

7 - Be polite and dress nicely - someone once told me a travellers' secret, He said, when you fly, dress like a businessman; with a jacket or blazer at least, see what happens. I did, and trust me, it opens doors (gates - literally). Be polite and kind to airline attendants at the counter, you may get a bump to the next class (business or first class), but it also helps to be in some frequent flyer program of sorts.
