Ever since the advent of USSD codes to buy airtime without even needing an internet connection, I can't remember the last time I used a recharge card. Even before then, there was ATM recharge and also buying via internet banking, but just being able to get airtime by sending some codes is really cool. You don't have to fall for the 'borrow credit' line the network providers keep peddling. Buying via USSD codes cost you nothing, unlike the so called 'xtratime'. In case you didn't know your bank's codes, you can learn them here and start buying airtime at the click of a button (or a couple of buttons)!
The process is very simple. Once you dial the code, a confirmation message will pop up. You will then receive a message that your phone has been credited and another message from the bank which will be a debit notification. There are no hidden charges. However, please note that you can only carry out these transactions with the phone line registered/linked to the specific bank account in question.
