Opinion: Ifeanyi Ubah - A Study In Betrayal (Keep Your Fuel)


Following the 'Mr nice guy' statement by the CEO of Capital oil, Ifeanyi Ubah on Sunday, an upset Nigerian has told Mr Ubah to throw his fuel into the lagoon. Ifeanyi Ubah had declared on Sunday that he would release 13 million litres of fuel that would last Nigerians for 15 days. Fuel Scarcity: Is There An End In View?!


Jokes have been made about the Yoruba man's ability to coin greetings for any situation whatsoever, even those things that don't seem to need a special greeting. You hear things like 'eku orun' (greeting for sleep), 'eku ojo' (for rain), 'eku oge' (during any form of beautification), and so on. The latest greeting going viral now however is 'eku fuel scarcity o'. Indeed, we should greet each other about this.

What Are We To Do?! Reports Say Fuel Scarcity May Linger Beyond May 29!!!

The fuel scarcity that has rocked the nation in the past two weeks has been pure, undiluted torture for most Nigerians and has caused untold hardship. People spend several hours queuing up for fuel at the filling stations, and sometimes do not end up getting any fuel. Some frustrated people go to buy from the black market sellers who display gallons by the road side, and not only do they have to pay obscenely expensive amounts for the fuel, sometimes the fuel has been adulterated and results in a damaged car engine.
