What To Do After You Break Glass?

It doesn't matter if there is silence in the room or if it's a hub of activity with chattering voices and other accompanying sounds, the sound of glass shattering against a hard floor is always something that makes everyone pause for a minute. Broken glass is always pesky business. You never seem to be able to get all the shards in one sweep. Everyone has to be extra careful on those floors for some time now.

So what's the best way to clean up broken glass? Here is probably what you want to do:

What you need: A slice of bread (or maybe more than 1 slice, depending on how much area you need to clean).

What you do: First, carefully pick up large glass pieces by hand. Then for the smaller, hard-to-get ones, place the soft part of the bread on top of the shards and gently press down.

How does it work? The porous surface acts like a sponge for any and all splinters and fragments. You can follow up by wiping the area with damp paper towels. Be sure to check the soles of your shoes for any stray shards too and get them out. Now you can take a leap of faith and walk around barefoot! Make sure you do the task carefully and efficiently though.
